Hey Tom Sue Silverstein is now the special services director for the Mountain Lakes public school system. She has done a tremendous job in turning that district around re: special education supports. There is also a new superintendent there who started out as a special ed teacher. He too is supportive. Two members of the BOE are also very involved in the special education committee. They worked long and hard to get the other director to resign so Sue could get the job officially about three years(?) ago. I have the opportunity to work in that district a few times a year. They have come a tremendous way with attitudes etc. Their biggest issue this year is with a couple of parents who don't understand the collaborative process. I was in those meetings and I can verify that the district was bending over backwards to work with them. That's all for now! Alice
