Parent Training and Information Center

SPAN's Parent Training and Information Center for Parents of Children with Special Education Needs provides information and referral to parents, professionals in the field of education, service providers and all other interested parties who contact us. Information is offered related to education law, advocacy, trainings, community resources, school programs, disability information and other areas of concern.

New Jersey Inclusive Child Care Project

 The goals of the NJ Inclusive Child Care project are to increase the quality of early care and education for children with special needs, increase the number of childcare providers that offer inclusive child care, increase awareness among families, childcare providers, and resource and referral counselors of the services available for children with special needs, and to improve the delivery of services to children with special needs through collaboration among the providers of childcare services and special needs services.

Parent Information Resource Center Project

The goal of the PIRC Project is to increase and enhance parental involvement and professional capacity to improve educational services and thus outcomes for children, especially children at greatest risk of school failure. The primary focus of the PIRC Project will be to work with parents, community partners and staff in schools across the State of New Jersey, and especially in the Abbott Districts and rural communities.

Family WRAP

Family WRAP provides one-stop, “wrap-around” services, information, resources and support to families of children with disabilities, developmental delays and special health care needs. Family WRAP combines three SPAN programs: Family Resource Specialists/Project CARE, Parent to Parent, and Family Voices.

Parent Leadership Development Institute

Included in the PIRC Project is the Parent Leadership Development Institute, which prepares and empowers parents as they take their seats at decision making tables across the state, and the 

Violence Prevention Initiative

Violence Prevention Initiative, which provides training, support and information to help to reduce youth violence and behaviors such as alcohol and drug use that increase the likelihood of violence

Project CARE

Project Care is a partnership between Special Child Health Services and the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN). This service has been added to strengthen the relationship between the Case Management Units and families. Family Resource Specialists, who are parents of children with disabilities, are trained to help other parents.
Family Voices - New Jersey

Family Voices is a network of families and friends speaking on behalf of children and families with special health care needs.

Transition to Adult Life

Transition is the process that prepares students for adult life after high school.
