TIERED INTERVENTIONS SEARCH ENGINE RESOURCE NOW AVAILABLE! 
 
SPAN, the Newark Teachers Union, and the Newark Public Schools collaborated on development of this Tiered Interventions Search Engine for parents and professionals. It contains information and useful tools and resources to help students experiencing academic, health, or behavioral difficulties in the public schools, including information on the Programs to Support Student Development Code, Intervention and Referral Services Teams, Section 504, and Special Education. The Search Engine also includes information on New Jersey's Core Curriculum Content Standards and indicators of progress, as well as useful instructional and support strategies to help struggling students. Parent's Place/Club de Padres Basic Rights in Special Education Manual Conference Information
Parent Training and Information Center

SPAN's Parent Training and Information Center for Parents of Children with Special Education Needs is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.  The PTI provides information and referral to parents, professionals in the field of early intervention and education, service providers and all other interested parties who contact us. Information is offered related to early intervention and education law, advocacy, trainings, community resources, early intervention and school programs, disability information and other areas of concern.

New Jersey Inclusive Child Care Project

 The goals of the NJ Inclusive Child Care project are to increase the quality of early care and education for children with special needs, increase the number of childcare providers that offer inclusive child care, increase awareness among families, childcare providers, and resource and referral counselors of the services available for children with special needs, and to improve the delivery of services to children with special needs through collaboration among the providers of childcare services and special needs services.

Family WRAP

Family WRAP provides one-stop, “wrap-around” services, information, resources and support to families of children with disabilities, developmental delays and special health care needs. Family WRAP combines three SPAN programs: Family Resource Specialists/Project CARE, Parent to Parent, and Family Voices.

Transition to Adult Life

Transition is the process that prepares students for adult life after high school.

Project CARE

Project Care is a partnership between Special Child Health Services and the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN). This service has been added to strengthen the relationship between the Case Management Units and families. Family Resource Specialists, who are parents of children with disabilities, are trained to help other parents.
Violence Prevention Initiative

Violence Prevention Initiative, which provides training, support and information to help to reduce youth violence and behaviors such as alcohol and drug use that increase the likelihood of violence

Parent Leadership Development Institute

 Parent Leadership Development Institute, which prepares and empowers parents as they take their seats at decision making tables across the state.

Family Voices - New Jersey

Family Voices is a network of families and friends speaking on behalf of children and families with special health care needs.

New Jersey’s State Code and New Federal Regulations for IDEA have changed Special Education.
